Beyond The Clerk's Desk

Over the 14 years I’ve been clerk, I’ve been involved in many different national, state, and local committees. I have been able to bring many ideas and best practices back to Fremont County.

I am serving on the Supreme Court Courts/County Committee. I represent all the clerk’s in the state on this committee. The committee works on coordinating the complex interrelated state and county court duties.

I am serving as the representative of 6th District Elected Officials on the legislative committee. While on this committee we review and take positions on proposed legislation that affect the counties. I have presented and testified on behalf of the counties before the legislature.

I have taught the budget and levy training for all newly elected county officials in the state for the last 14 years.

I have been appointed by the Governor to the Electronic Recording Commission. We have established standards for recording land records in the counties.

I was the President of the Idaho Association of Counties for fiscal year 2007-08. I served on the Idaho Association of Counties board of directors for 14 years.

I was President of the Idaho Association of Recorders and Clerks for fiscal year 2012-13. I organized and conducted the annual conference for the clerks. I have been the chairman of the Budget Committee which oversees the training for the clerks in the state. I have been the chairman of the Indigent Committee which puts together the Indigent Conference for the state. I am currently serving on the Election Committee.

I served on the National Association of Counties board of directors for fiscal year 2008-09, and continue to serve on the Finance and Intergovernmental affairs Committee.

I have served on the ECIPDA (The Development Company) Board of Directors, which works on economic development in Eastern Idaho, the only county clerk which has served on the board.

Among the work I’ve done on subcommittees I’ve helped to write the 104 page election consolidation legislation, helped bring the 5-County Detention Center to Fremont County.

I was honored with the highest recognition from the Idaho Association for Recorders and Clerks, the Mills-Adler Award.

Also, I was honored in 2014 with the Sydney Duncan award the highest award for the Idaho Association of Counties.
